I have an opportunity to get a 512 module for free ( but it has to be less than $150). What module should I get?

I want it to overclock decently with the Athlon64, while still providing low timings. I don't have an a64 yet, but hope to have one after christmas. Do I want DDR500? or DDR433? what brand should I get?

If I remember right that uses the registered stuff? If so yo uare goign to be limited on overclocking ram for it but I think Mushkin makes some but its pretty expensive. Give that a try.

Nope, I just need normal ram for the A64. I'm not talking about the FX.

Further info. I'm probably going to get a VIA chipset, because they seem a little faster. How high will I have to get the ram/fsb in order to get AGP/PCI speeds to go back to default (where's nearest dividor)? Is it at 233? DOes it have one??? If not, I might as well just get pc3200 and not overclock at all. blah.

I'm sorry if this question's been asked before, it's just that you can't search for "64" in these forums.

The Via chipset doesn't have PCI/AGP locked, so your gonna have some hassle there.

All BH-5 memory is good for A64. Check the pricelist sticky.
