I only have two dirves in a raid 0 config and no other free drives.
I want to go from raid 0 to a raid 1 config.
I want to know if I can delete the array without haveing to reinstall everything, its no big deal if I have to format my drives though.
I have a software raid managment that is made for my raid array if i need to use it.

you gotta reinstall and recopy all data if you delete a software raid 0 (or a hardware one)

Can I have the main drive go through the SATA and the other in IDE?

Not if you want it in raid probley. Didn't think it did cross controller with these boards, or any boards as a matter of fact.
If you have a DVD-Burner or can manage to lay your hands on a backup HD that's large enough to take all of your data compressed, then I'd try using norton ghost to take an image of the hard disk and put it on a DVD or spare HD, then create the RAID 1 array and then image the data back to the array. That will definately work.

you cant with actuall hardware raid at all. but its possible to use windows and dynamic drives to do it. since windows only cares about disk space usually. (though I doubt you could do like a 15k scsi and a ata100 ide or something)

Their both IDE but one will have a SATA converter on it.
It would be Raid 1, as well (if it makes a difference)

What if I put both into SATA, could I just switch them to IDE with no issues?

oh i see.... errr maybe but I dont think so. you wont notice any difference anyways. since they are still technically PATA(IDE) drives. So i feel it to be a waste of adapters IMO

The conveters do up speeds, just forgot which ones!

no they dont that ive seen.... nothing can make something go faster than it does unless you change the thing itself ;)
*edit* in fact I have two identical drives, one on PATA the other on a converter to SATA. they bench at near identical speeds in sandra
