I am unable to overclock my 1.33 athlon. Whenever I try to overclock even 1 fsb mhz, it boots to windows then eventually locks up when I do anything remotely taxing on the system eg. move the cursor, open explorer, run 3dmark2001 etc.

At normal speed it runs 40 deg C in bios and 32 idle, 34 load in windows and works stable

When I try to overclock to 10.5x133 the temp in bios jumps to 51degrees.

What am I doing wrong or have I got an overclocker's dud.

System specs:

athlon AYHJAR1333 @10 x 133
abit kta-raid
globalwin fop-38(earmuffs not included)
asus geforce2mx
310mb memory

Try upping the VIO voltage in the BIOS and see if that helps. Raise it to 3.4 or 3.5. Make sure that your HSF is seated properly on the CPU so your temps do not jump so fast.

sounds to me like your speed error hold is enabled in your bios.you absolutly need to disable it if it is enabled.
