I am unable to overclock my 1.33 athlon. Whenever I try to overclock even 1 fsb mhz, it boots to windows then eventually locks up when I do anything remotely taxing on the system eg. move the cursor, open explorer, run 3dmark2001 etc.

At normal speed it runs 40 deg C in bios and 32 idle, 34 load in windows and works stable

When I try to overclock to 10.5x133 the temp in bios jumps to 51degrees.

What am I doing wrong or have I got an overclocker's dud.

System specs:

athlon AYHJAR1333 @10 x 133
abit kta-raid
globalwin fop-38(earmuffs not included)
asus geforce2mx
310mb memory

I have'nt used your mobo, but here is a link to a good FAQ;

Maybe this will help.

All I can suggest is you find a symathetic friend whos got a socket A processor and board and convince said friend to let you borrow the two to "swap out" parts to see if the problem is in the board or the chip. If its in the chip then I think you're screwed, if its the board then there could be any number of patches or jumper settings that need to be adjusted and perhaps such tinkering would help.

Good luck.

Eoboard -1 point. Now the other thing, there are many variables to overclocking. I would suggest doing the research in what your board has done in the past and what other people have to say about it. One piece of your computer could be causing your problems. It took me over 2 weeks of research to find out what my board can do and the little tweaks that would be best for my system. Good luck dood.
