I was working on a customer's system. It was booting to:
Authentic AMD 800 mhz
I kept getting windoze protection errors, hmmm I get this at home when I'm Oclocking.
I take the system apart and this is what I find:
AMDDuron
D600AUT1B
AKBA 0031MPMW
K0027220126
Does this tell me it is a 600 mhz cpu?
Has he been a victim of a "re-marker"?
I will sit here and wait on a reply, I know you guys know these chips!
Thanks as always!!!!
A remarker usually somehow physically remarks the core of the chip. Looks to me like someone just clocked that chip up and sold it to your customer as an 800mhz.
The code you listed indicates a 600Mhz processor.

Thanks! I thought so, but definatley wanted confirmation from someone else.
Looks like someone is due a refund :)

I think I'd end up with me a free PC. Threaten to goto AMD with this and I'm sure the guy will be more than happy to let the guy have a compliementary PC.

Yeah, the AKBA Durons were supposed to be the good ones for overclocking but yeah, definitely go to the scheister who sold this system and demand a new processor **AND** a significant cash kickback or threaten to go to AMD... they don't have any tolerance for shtuff like this and they'll revoke his OEM purchasing privileges.... he certainly doesn't want that.
He he gotta love catching these buttheads... :)

I just took the guy to dinner, and told him the "options" you guys mentioned. It's a definate go-ahead with taking it to AMD. He is going to contact his attorney (as this pc is holding a $150,000.00 plasma system down, when it is down.)
Now I am the hero thanks to the things I have learned in these forums!
I give all the credit to you guys, and hope that AMD / INsmeL will learn that it's the "re-marker / pozers" that cause the problems, and not genuine O'clockers!
Man you guys are cold! Smart, but cold. I wouldn't have thought about calling the manufacturer. Remind me to post here whenever I've got a problem. I'd like to see the lawyer with enough guts to take on you guys! Man!

Hey, I'm not trying to gain but two things here:
1
A happy customer
2
A better rep for O'clockers With Manufacts
Is being honest sooo bad?
