Maybe this should be in the cooling section, maybe not, but anyway.... I just bought a Duron 800 system and I'm putting it together now, but I can't get the HSF to latch on top! It is one of those Volcano II's and the latch thing is bent in the middle so do I need to bend that straight in order to latch it ontop of the CPU?

you shouldn't bend it stright. Some hs require the use of a screw driver to attach it. This is what happens when you cut corners when buying a hsf, It was no fun w/ my old generic hs (6$- lol) come time to take it off/on. I wish you luck.

There is no place to put screws or anything! There is this bent metal latch thing in the middle and it latches onto the sides of the (what's it called I think it's..) ZIF socket (is that it?). They will latch onto that but it is bent so I can't get it to latch! Man oh man I want to get this thing together now but I can't!!! :( I don't wanna bend it though cos I dont want to break it and I don't want to crack the CPU core!

I was talking about using the flat head of the screw driver, not using screws.

I just removed mine an hour ago to short out the L1 and L7's. Good cooling effects, horrible to attach or remove. I smacked my board 3 times with a butter knife I was trying to use to pry the thing off, it kept slipping out ot the groove. I went with a screwdriver and presto! Total control. Just make sure you're using the right screwdriver. I used a 9 / 64th slotted screwdriver from a pack of "detail screwdrivers" that you can get just about everywhere. I found it to have the perfect length, width, thickness and weight to use to remove and reapply that particular sink. I suggest using such a screwdriver if you can get one instead of fumbling with the wrong tools. If I didn't I'd still be stabbing my motherboard with that butter knife.
