1053mhz!! Finally I found some thermal compound! Cheap radio scrap brand but better than nothing. The Duron in my system is an 800mhz AKCA. I field stripped the system so I could safely remove the sink from the main board. Cleaned the old compound off the chip and sink with alcohol (99.0%). Shorted the L1 and L7 bridges with a pencil. Kind of lapped the sink a bit, not a true mirror lapping job but very smooth to the touch, more than when it was stock. Re wiped the sink with alcohol. Put on the compound, smoothing it on with the edge of a plastic card. Put the sink back on the board, the board back in the case, the peripherals in the bus slots, the wires on the connectors and turned it on. Nothing!!! I put the power connector on the wrong pins. A slight adjustment later and boom 994mhz @1.86v. I put the multiple to its max and worked my way back to the first setting that worked which was 1111mhz. That would post but not boot. Backed it off another .5 multiple to 1053 and it is solid!!!!!!!!! I've an overall temp increase around 10c. Boot is now 39c, idle is 42c, 12 minutes of Need for Speed 4 was at 48c followed immediately by 15 minutes of Sandra burn in at 50c. I might play around with FSB vs multiple to get a stable 1100+ but for now I just going to revell in my accomplishment.

Congrats on a nice O/C. It is such a great feeling when you finally get it right. A buck says, with some Arctic Silver you could knock a few more degrees off. Good luck.

When I say cheap radio scrap brand I mean quality, not price. I'm a Canadian, exchange rates and border tolls are murder! If I get ASII it's gonna have to be from inside Canada and the cheapest price I've found in my (extended) area is $13. It'll cost me more than that transportation wise to go get it and I'm not trusting any e-tail or "Send us your money and we promise to send you the product!" crap. When I buy it will be when I can see it in my hand. So for now I bide my time. I'm happy with my 1053mhz @ 50c under heavy load for now.
