I was using the video compressing software TMPGEnc, so encode avi files to VCD format. Then, a while, the motherboard starts beeb!! is it normal to have 52degrees at stand by? when I am using the video compressing program. .it goes to nearly 70C!! I am using Asus A7A266 m/b with 256 hyundai PC-133 ram. My fan is tested for up to 1.5G cpus..
i dunno. .

That seems a tad toasty. What is your ambient temp and system temp? What are your normal idle temps? Also, what HS/F are you using and what are you using to measure your temps?

Oh, and welcome to the forums =]

Sounds a little hot. Maybe you should invest in a better HSF with some ASII. I have a ThermoEngine with the Delta fan and some ASII. I can't get it any hotter then 53, under FULL load. Even after playing UT or Tribes2 for 3 hours. Just remember to take the damn pad off of the Thermoengine and use ASII instead.

The max temp AMD says the core can run at is 95c for a 1.2 but you'd be a little nutty to run it that high.

I've heard that the asus probes report back something like 10c more than reality.

i've got a 1 gig @ 1.2 here. It's running 37c idle 43c while folding. artic silver 2 and swiftech 462a.

What heatsink are you running? sounds like an orb

Hi, thanks everyone. I am new here..so..
got some questions, what is HSF
and ASll? I was using only the thermal thing from the bios. The fan I am using is alight, some taiwanese brand the fan speed detected was about 5200rpm. Finally "pad off of the Thermoengine and use ASII instead. " what does this mean? Thanks again. very much.

HSF: heat sink/ fan
ASII: arctic silver II, it's a thermal paste that everyone here likes because it works well

the pad on the thermoengine is referring to the thermal paste that came already on the heatsink. You'll want to scrape that off and clean it very well, then put some good thermal paste on (ASII)

The probe on Asus boards is notorius for being as much as 10*C higher than your actual temps. I think the best thing you can do is look into purchasing a better HS/F and some ASII. For suggestions on what HS/F's are good check out the Cooling section, there are dozens of threads on this topic.
Are you using thermal paste with your current HS/F? If not I'd go to Radio shack and pick up some and reseat the HS/F you have as a temporary solution.
Hope this helps =]
