View Full Version : YAY! Upgrade soon
Well, hopefully I can upgrade my puter in a couple weeks. What I need to know is what exact parts I should get. I'm on a budget of $275-$350. I want a 2500+ Barton unless someone convinces me otherwise. And at least 512MB of memory. Those 2 items are not a problem, I can pretty much figure them out on my own. What I really need advice on is what mobo to get? Something thats good for OC'ing, but fairly cheap. plzkthx :)

Abit NF7-S R2 seems to be the winner right now. Asus also has the A7N8X which seems to be pretty popular too...but from what I've heard, their tech support leaves something to be desired. Of course, newegg.com has some pretty good prices on both. I am in the process of building a system right now with the Abit mobo, 2500 Barton, and 512 RAM. I'll let you know how it turns out.
NF7-S Rev.2 seem to be the reigning king of AMD mobos... I have one and it is very nice.
That will be about $100. If you're looking a bit cheaper, try and 8RDA or 8RDA+.
Okay, I like the sound of the NF7. So that ones on my list. What would be good for memory? I was thinking 512MB Crucial PC3200.

You might want to look into a dual DDR kit (2x256). I have a NF7-S v2 with Geil Golden Dragon dual pc3200 (was around $110 on newegg) and it works great. The red LED's are cool too. Newegg also has Corsair XMS twin packs for around $120 these days.
