It's extremely hard to plug the 1/2" 1/8" tube into the 3/4" heatcore there with hot water for the tube..
my finger...
i plug the 5/8" but 3/4" is very difficult..
 
finally..
i did it..
but put it in the boiling water..
like cooking the tube...
 
i wanna..
but my brother DC borrowed to friend..
 
I shortened both of the barbs, and cut off the 3/4" part with a hacksaw. It would make it a lot easier if you did too.

I am glad you got them on. It was a difficult task for me as well. Since everyone here is always talking about optimizing flow rate, I couldn't see putting barbs on.

I even used the 5/8"OD plastic barbs for my ViaAqua 1300 pump. I thought for sure they would snap when I forcing the hose on, but they help together. :)
