I've seen people achieve up in the 10,000s in 3DMARK2001SE. I can barely achieve 5,800 with overclocked settings and tight ram timings. Is my CPU motherboard or RAM causing the low scores?
It's about right for the system you have. It's not just your CPU, but your video card as well. Pentiume III 1GHZ + Geforce 3 are both outdated, SDRAM too.
Upgrade any 1 of these 2 parts to top of the line will give you around 10k score in 3dmark2k1SE. For example, a P4 overclocked to over 3GHZ work with your Geforce 3, or get a Radeon 9700PRO or higher work with your Pentiume III 1GHZ, both will give you around 10k score. If you can upgrade both, then I am sure you'll be able to get at least 15k.
Take a look my set up and scores.
The easiest way for you is just to upgrade the video card. Otherwise you'll have to go all out upgrade, since CPU & motherboard & RAM are all related in the situation your system is one generation behind.

#18 - It is a pain in the you know what, but you can submit your scores to the OC3DMark Team website and then link to the team website in your sig.
oh I get it. :)
changing
I don't trust everyone's score and hardware set up in their sig. :D You know there are immature people try to be cool by making things up. Need links to back them up. That's why I added mine. Don't blame me for it, I didn't know that rule. ;)
Do you know why the rule doesn't allow these links? I only see good side of adding links such as 3dmark and PCmark scores directly.
