Radeon 9800 non pro flashed BIOS to pro
have the machine running at 10.5*227 in dual channel with fast writes enabled (CPU interface). memory is running 2 3 3 9. GPU is 391core 351mem.
with this setup the highest i've been able to score is 16,091. good score yes but with this hardware i should be breaking 17 easy shouldn't i?
now, i'm running DX 8.1 and the omega drivers for the 3.7 cats. i think not having DX9 is holding me back. i've broken 17k before with the CPU 300Mhz slower and FSB 10Mhz slower plus mem timings were lax. i know this card can do alot more then this and i have the system to back it up.
also, in my BIOS i have the graphics card set to enable fast writes. is this right?
The score you get is about right. You will need faster processor for higher score in 3dmark2k1SE.
A little side note, why 2-3-3-"9"? If you can do 2-3-3, then the last one should be able to do 5~6. And yes, fast write should be enabled for best performance. Also make sure you have 8x enabled.
Still don't think there is anything wrong with your score.

That score is just about right. Try running CAT 3.5's and make sure you have the sliders all the way to the left (performance) for OpenGL and Direct3D.

a 2.4 Ghz AMD isn't good for more then 16k yet when i ran @ 2.01 i hit 17k with the same GPU?
i run 9 because higher command is better for bandwidth on these chipsets.

That's why I said it may have something to do with your driver or driver setup. What driver were you using before?
I think if you do as I suggested you will see mid 17's. I got well over 20K with a setup similar to yours but I was overclocking the GPU and DDR as well as the CPU.
Also, you should be running much tighter timings if your memory will handle it. Try raising your VDD to 2.7-2.8v minimum.

Don't forget, the "16k" you mentioned is actually 16.7k, so it's only 300 points away from your top score 17k. There isn't anything wrong with 300 points difference due to everyone get a different score every time.

i never tried running the memory tighter then what i have now. Vdimm is at 2.8 so i should be able to squeeze 2 3 3 2 or something close to that out of it. have to hand it to OCZ. i never woulda thought these DIMM's would run this high with aggressive timings in dual channel. not to shabby for 4.5ns PC3500. theoretical is 222Mhz.
