Yes, just use the username you want and Team number 32.

You can get overclockix here (http://overclockix.octeams.com)

If you want Linux but your internet sucks, check my signature ;)

It boots straight from the CD-ROM and only needs RAM, no HDD needed. The author of the distro is here occasoinally (Arkaine23) and you can get more technical help wth it in Alt OS'es.

That said, I believe Eilolodon is newer.

It supported my on-board NIC so it shouldn't be too hard to get yours going..

You can run off the CD or install it to a HDD, your choice! It's not so hot if you are on dial-up, but if you've got a LAN, just pop the CD in and go!

Overclockix is one of those rare distros that includes nforce2 drivers, so your 8rda3+ should work fine.

Eidolon an Technomancer have a few differences. But for folding they are virtually identical. For the most part, Eidolon has fewer bugs than technomancer. Technomancer has more media-oriented apps and its desktop appearance has been tweaked more than Eidolon. There's only one real bug in Technomacer and that's that some programs will not lauch from the KDE start menu. They still work byut you have to launch them from a terminal. One real bug in eidolon is a typo in a optional network folding script called mountnetdrive. Both have a bug that does not allow Prime95 to run when booted from the CD.

Other than that, they're pretty nicely done considering the guy who made them's an amateur.

There is a forum for overclockix support, and you can also dig up a lot of threads about it here by searching.

Bottom line- try either one or try both!

Are you using it as like a webstation? Users will not be aware of folding@home unless they know how to use the linux command line. It runs automatically as a background service and is thus invisible.

You'll want to read a little on knoppix cheatcodes here: www.knoppix.net/docs

These are certain options you can select at boot-time. Overclockix is based off of Knoppix 3.2, so a few cheatcodes from knoppix 3.3 (toram and fromhd and driverdisk) are not present in overclockix.

Finally, it folds for me by default. So when you first start-up, run this:

cfgfold

That will let you change the client.cfg and restart the folding client.

Im about to dual boot with red hat on my main machine will that be as effective as overclockix? and do you have pictures of all those computers, rofl thats alot...

Redhat is as effective if you use version 8.0. There are some weird problems for folding in redhat 9.0, though there are some workarounds. Running folding in linux is a little different than running it in windows. We can help you set it up though and make it start automatically.

I wish I had a digital camera. Actually I might start taking pics of the folding farm and scanning them. Many are my firends' PCs or are part of a corporate network. Most of the farm runs linux too...

With overclockix does it need a 800mb cd-r?

Arkaine23

No. You should be able to burn it to a 700mb CD-rom. The .sio's are both 699mb.

In Nero-

Close the wizards
Go to the File drop-down menu
choose burn image
browse to the iso file
and burn
