Stupid piece of crap! ........ thats all i had to say when i took of my heatsink and found a chip off the corner of my D700. Well it lasted a long time, but it could have lasted longer. This cpu used to do 1125 @ 2.5 Vcore on my a7v133 :). Now with the chip in it the thing will only do 888 @ 1.6 on a a7a266. The real problem is that the chip has seamed to have crippled the FSB capabilities of the Duron. on the a7v133 it did 150 MHz now with the chip and on my a7a266 it will only do 126MHz (some times 127-128 ) and yes i have the same specs accept for the board and the ram (PC2100 brand name). The chip has made my FSB copletly unstable! It is also affecting my gts overclocking speeds! i did have my gts @ 230 and 405 but it is slowly getting less stable as the duron dies :( here's hoping that i have enough money left in my bank for a 1.4 Tbird

ok, the FSB unstability is getting soo bad that at default speeds the desktop freezes!!!! the CPU temp is only 41C and MB temp is 25C, along with video @ 37C

Try reformatting and reinstalling you o/s. Get all the newest drivers.

I had this problem, and looked at my Duron 750 and say cracks all over the 4 edges. I just reformatted, and it all works fine now @ 1012 1.888v.

Hope that helped!

that won't help considering that i just reformatted after installing the a7a266, which was like a day ago and one thing to note is that this chip goes all the way to the silicone :(

Use some alcohol to clean the cpu. I chipped mine and it wouldn't even start. Then I cleaned off all the thermal paste and everything and it worked.
Since I've been able to apply thermal paste and it's been working fine.
Also have you done the pencil trick for multiplier or voltage ? The graphite usually wears off and can cause great instabilities.

sounds like that chip is on its last legs- maybe underclock it and use in a second system, just get a new chip when you get the money...sorry but the loss

Already used alcohol on cpu and the L1's are connected with rear window repair kit stuff

Man i agree its on its last leg.. run at at 5x100 500Mhz is still not bad it will run mostly everthing and look at picking up an older Duron thats allready discontiued 600/650/700/750(i am not sure about 750) but if u can find one of those there dirt cheep..and your garuenteed 950Mhz some guy got 1.2Ghz from the slowest duron ever made and it wont set u back too much cash at the most 30 US 50CDN
