Hi, it's the first time i write in this forum, it's a very cool web site...
is it possible that my k7 800 is unstable even if I don't overclock it? I've tried an app that was called torture test or something like that and my system was crashing... I've also notice that at about each 20 minutes or so, my computer is like "freezing" for about 2 or 3 seconds.
I've tried to overclock it at 840mhz (105 x 8) without changing the voltage and tried 3d mark 2001.. it crashed.. ok, I only have the manufacturer fan but I've opponed my case and putted a big fan blowing all.. unfortunatly I don't have any sensor on my cpu but it doesn't seem to me too hot, by putting my fingers on the heatsink I can say that it's between 40-50°c. Do you think I have some chance of getting it at 1ghz with a watercooling system?
thanks

Yes it is possible for it to be unstable if you have crappy psu. Whta's your psu? I think you could get 1ghz with water.

well if it's a no name psu then get a new one
the enermax or anatech(something like that) is not bad
also, did u get a gold finger device that enables u to chang multipliers? and u will need better cooling as you go in a higher o/c

ok, no I don't have any goldfinger device, how much does it cost?
how much for the enermax or anatech psu?> do you think a 300 watt would be ok or a 350?
I would just like to start cooling my geforce2 gts and my cpu with better fans.. can you tell me if there is some good one in those fans:
-Coolmaster T-bird 1.5 (dp5-6h11)
-k7 & Duron, T-Bird (big one)
-Chrome Orb (du0462) 1.3ghz
-Super OrbII (du0462-8) 1.5 ghz
-Blue orb Video Fan
-there is some "vantec" and "global win" but I think it is for case cooling
thanks

i would recommend u to buy a CAK38(globalwin) or a swiftech or glaciator
one thing i forgot to ask.........is your athlon a slot or a socket?
if socket then u dun need a gold finger....u just need to cross the L1 bridges on the chip with a lead pencil

my k7 athlon is a slot a... ****... I just realized ... most of the fans are for socket, no?
my motherboard is an Asus k7v
by the way, can you fry everything else when you overclock by the fsb?
there is also a vantec cck-6035 D copper ( it's 10$ canadian less than the global win but can It goes on a slot?)
thanks man, your helping me a lot...!

hum by the way, is it possible to add a heat sensor on the cpu because there is a function in the bios for that but it's written n/a
hey, I've just bought 256 ram 133mhz, 45$ canadian!!!

If you are looking for a good heatsink, go with Alpha or get the Global Win VOS 32, which actually beats the Alpha, or is at least equal...There some reviews around here...just see yourself.I you want to overclock seriously, get a GFD, the are available on E-bay for low prices...
Slot A still rulez :)
