View Full Version : highest duron?
im gonna get a duron 700 and i was wondering whats the higest mhz, this baby will go with a thermoengine, and a delta 38, and some 120mm fas, all the goodies,is this a good chip for gaming or will it crall like a p2 200?

My Duron 600Mhz runs rock solid at 1125Mhz (150FSBx7.5) at 2.1 volts. I should be able to do 1200Mhz AT LEAST once I finish the voltage mod so I can go to 2.7 core voltage! 1500Mhz HERE I COME!!!!

More voltage doesn't always mean more mhz. I'd be careful if I were you, running a duron @ 2.7 will just kill it after like 20mins.

The Duron is a great CPU for the price and you should be able to get some good gains from it. I would suggest looking in the CPU database on the front of overclockers.com to see what people have obtained however dont expect to get anywhere near 1500 mhz its a bit over optimistic

Nobody has the guts do go over 2.1 volts!!!! Watch me do 1500Mhz! You think it's unreasonable?? My temps hit 35C UNDER FULL LOAD using Hot CPU Tester 2 Pro, NEVER above!

well i've ran my duron at 2.27v. 1.5ghz is exreamly unlikly even at 2.7 and whatever cooling system.

HA! We will see then wont we? It will take me about a week to get my **** together to do it, but I will let everyone know how high the Duron can go.

The later model Durons aren't known for being good OCers. My 650 will hit 1000 Mhz at 2.0V with watercooling. Your 700 will probably do 1000 or 1050 with proper cooling. I wouldn't expect over that.

I just think that everything has a limit and I personally believe that the Durons around at this point in time will not hit 1500 mhz unless you do something drastic such as liquid nitrogen cooling.
My Duron 800 @ 1050 is fitted with a lapped FOP 32 and Ytech fan, five 120mm case fans a 80 mm case fan, 2 hard drive coolers, 2 bay coolers, blue orb on the Geforce card and a PCI slot cooler.. I also keep tempratures exceptionally low for air cooling and still believe that 1500 mhz is way out of my reach even if I exceeded 2.1 volts
I wish you the best of luck, however I do stand by my origional statement that I consider being able to obtain a 900 mhz overclock on a 600 mhz CPU exceptionally optimistic.

The Highest I have ever seen on Air Cooling is about 1150 or less. If you get more post up :) The chip has a limit and personally I think that is the top end max overall.
Maestro
Here is what I got out of my AKBA duron 600.
1050 Aircooled no voltage mod 1.85v
1104 Aircooled 2.05v
1200 Water cooled 2.33v
And after all that I accidently chipped my core [img="http://forums.overclockers.ws/forums/Public/Images/Default/E16.gif"]
