How does a person know if a certain mobo can unlock a CPU?
On the mobo, is there some kind of setting in the Bios? Please tell me?   :santa:
No mobos unlock CPUs. Palominos can be unlocked by closing the L1 bridges. Thoroughbreds and Bartons (before week 0339) are factory unlocked. SOme boards don't properly read the FID from the processor, so you have to flip the 5th FID bit to get the full range of multipliers. I would imagine tha your 200+ is a Palomino core, and you will have to unlock it manually. Chenck the sticky int the AMD Boards section (where this probably should have been posted) for more info).

how you find out - You make a thread :)
And then I answer with really bad spelling and messed up ()s...
Tell us what CPU you have and we'll tell you if it's unlocked and how hard itis to unlock.
