I have a question can your bios settings or your motherboard be a cause of overheating.
I have a thermaltake volcano II heatsink and artic silver thermal compund on my amd 1.33 ghz cpu. I also have the case off and a room fanblowing directly into my open case and the temperature of my cpu is 55 degrees celsius or 131 farenheight.
I have tried everything and nothing seems to be bringing the temperature down below 55 degrees. I am not overclocking it either.
Any suggestions would be great? Is this temperature normal for the amd 1.33 ghz processor? By the way my motherboard is the Asus A7A 266 DDR model.
Thanks

I think the only way your bios settings can cause heat is if they are used to overclock your cpu. :)
What are the ambient (room) temps? That seems a little on the warm side especially if you're planning on overclocking. If you have to get your temps down, you could also get a better hsf.

True I belive that it is better not to have ure case off that enables proper air flow. You need to do some casemoding and add some fans. If still Hot you can always try water-cooled on youre processor and motherboard. Try this web sight www.water-cool.com That is if you have a good understanding on what you are doing Hope it helps

Also take into account that different bios revisions often cause different temparatures, usually only at Idle though, the load temps are more constant from revision to revision.

I would also try to shut the case, and add additional airflow.
A open case without ventilation will always create some hotspots...
I don't believe, that bios settings can have a drastic effect on CPU temps..
The 55 degrees, which you are reporting are not critically at all, just a little to high for serious overclocking
