The idea is to run some sort of CPU-stressing software over and over again, attempting to smoke out problems in the system. Sisoft Sandra has a burn-in wizard, Folding@Home is also a good program to stress CPU (shameless plug :) ), Prime95 is a favorite around here, 3DMark2000 or 2001 work well.... SETI..... and a host of others. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Yea ive used Sandra's burn in Wizard a few times but now use Seti as this works remarkably well and I get the added bonus of helping the Overclockers.com team

I'm leaving tommorow on vaction for 10 days and I was going to try the "burn In" method. I have a duron 600, what speed and voltage should I put it at? I heard lower the clock and up the voltage. I can go as high as 2.05v right now. by the way, I was thinking I would join the f@h team, or should I do seti?

Well, to "burn in" I had always been told to run a high voltage... you've apparently got a 8K7A or you've voltmodded....

SETI or Folding? I'd say Folding, but as long as you join the www.overclockers.com team for either it doesn't matter. I'd say the folding team has a better chance of moving up, we're only a couple hundred units/day from outproducing team DSL reports.

Yep i got the 8k7a, I just downloaded the F@H console, so I Guess I'll help you guys move in to 4th. I'm running @ 600mhz and 1.7v. should I raise it higher?

i would recommend that u put the chip at the highest stable speed u can have the processor at then burn in at that speed
