I just built a system with a LG 4048B. It's a real multipurpose burner. DVD/-RW/-R/+RW/+R/RAM Nice drive for $160 Canadian.

LG DVD burner for only $160 canadian? O_o
The only thing I could recommend is either the NEC 1100 (which is what I have) or the 1300 which is both +and - :D The 1300 is only $116 on newegg for the black one.

I had an LG dvd player that died after about 8 months. ( puzzeled everyone ) They were really good about the RMA. When I got my new one, it was an upgrade to the latest model. I had a 48x, they sent me back a 52x. Plus, they didnt really have to RMA it in the first place, I had modded it some. ( new bezel ) I have had good luck with all the LG drives I have had.

My next drive will be an NEC probably. They are the cheapest ones out. Hopefully their support is as good as LGs was.
