I've heard about many NB having the syndrome at over 1.7v. Just wondering if it will be ssafe to run my core at 1.72... Im water-cooling BTW

Your temps look good, but most people don't go past 1.65v. 1.7v might be ok for prommy cooling, but I'm not sure about water. Maybe someone else can say.

Had that same question I was running at 1.71v but decided for saftey I'd bring down the OC under the 1.7 limit it seems. My suggestion is that I wouldn't unless you can afford another CPU if something happens.

at 1.7 its not perfectly stable. I can play games for 12 hours but for somereason Prime95 stops after about 4 hours... (???) Running at 1.72 Prime95 went for 14 hours and i stopped it. So just wondering if it will shorten the life of the CPU dramatically or cause it to have SNDS

I mean even at 40C I have a great air temp I mean its just breaking 100F which isn't bad at all. Most people say 1.65 which is true then again I like breaking rules if I can get a little more out of her hehe.
At 1.72v your CPU could last yea 2-5 years maybe longer then again it might only last yea 1-2 months. Depends on how lucky you are really.

ive ran my p4 2.4b @ 1.70v for about 8 months, still going strong
Although maybe im lucky??

Whats you Bios setting compared to Windows voltage?
Like mines 1.7 volts bios but 1.675 volts windows basically.

yes, 1.7 is a bit high. higher than 1.7vcore is dangerous for a p4 regardless of cooling. remember the key word in SNDS
sudden northwood death syndrome......as i it acts normal one day and the next day it won't even boot.
if i were you i would step off my overclock a little and use a safer voltage, unless you are willing to take the risk.

Right now im running 1.72 and idle votage sometimes goes up to 1.76:eek: but for very short time. The voltage stabilizes as i put it under load. Raising AGP voltage to 1.7 helped with voltage stabilization.

*sigh* what do you recommend as the safe voltage? 1.65 perhaps?

Is SNDS with all Northwoods? And what about mine Lmfao I ran mine up and down 1.75-1.9v. I can make it do a sort of SNDS I raise the volts to 1.9v and up my fsb till my clock speed is 3.633 it loads up but then my whole comp. just turns off.
I know my mobo has undervolting issues 1.9v in windows is 1.85 and 2.00v is really 1.9.Yea I ran it at 1.9v a couple of times. I used to run my old XP-Tbred B at 2.00 volts on air till it all caught on fire which my darn heat sink fell off damn Aero 7.
I never heared about SNDS I thought a cpu is any other type of electric product, putting stress and high volts is my job :D and I didn't know it would kill it. :p LoL hope mine dies hehe.
