So here's what I have now.

Asus P2L97-DS, 2x PII 300

I have been looking into upgrading and I found out that a lot of people have upgraded 440LX chipset dual boards to 2x PPGA (up to 533) Celerons. The slocket is key though, and from what I have found the only one that consistently works is the Asus S370-DL. I found someone selling these on eBay for $22.99 apiece on buy it now.

So total cost of upgrade would be:

$46 for slockets
2x $30 for PPGA Celeron 533's
2x $5 for some cheapo socket heatsinks

$116 total to gain a total of 466 MHz. Doesn't seem like a worthy upgrade to me, but I may be wrong. $116 gets me most of the way to a refurbished K7D Master so I am inclined to say no on this one.... any other opinions?

Hrm I think you were right about it not being worth the cost if you think you are not far off from a k7D Master system. The dual tbreds/bartons will smoke the celerons...

I'm thinking that it isn't worth the cost.

A refurbed K7D, a pair of Applebreds, and some cheapo heatsinks will blow the socks off any dual Celeron rig.

It may be worth just saving up and upgrading to a newer platform.

Yeah... I guess part of the appeal was having a silent dual to handle fileserving duties and run F@H. I guess I will just leave it as is.
