Got this EPoX 8K7A+ and an AMD 1.4GHz last Saturday as most of you know and have been burning it in at 11.5X133 for all this week with SETI.

Anyways, I decided to give it a try and see what I could get out of since I just got home. It had been running at 1.92V and quite hot at that. Have a Millenium Glaciator on it and couldn't get it down below 53C under full load. Have tried everything.

Oh well. I bolted on the stock fan that came with my ThermoEngine to the side of it and cranked it up to 1.6GHz and it fired right up and is running great. At default voltage and is now at 45C. Weeeeeeeeee!

Only disappointing thing is that it hates 150MHz FSB. I'm a big memory bandwidth fan and it just won't do it at any setting. Tried upping the voltage to the DDR at 2.8V and no go. Didn't bother 2.9 since it was incredibly unstable at 2.8V...figured it wouldn't make much difference. I'm not sure of the quality of this memory, though. It is Micron and it was sold to me for $45 at the computer fair along with the board in a one shot bargain deal. Might get something better in the near future and try again. I'd give up to 1.5GHz easily if I could get that FSB to 150.

I'm betting the bank this thing has plenty more in it. Going to need to find a way to cool it a bit more and get that memory if I'm going to try it, though.

I'm just happy since I've been with Intel for over 10 years and never really considered AMD til I got this one. Fun fun overclocking love here. I'm sold.

1.6 sounds good to me :)
I am still running mine at default settings to let it burn in.
I am going to run the crucial I got until the 2700 comes out.
My cpu was factory unlocked I was happy to see that.
Some had sucess getting a higher fsb by playing with memory timings.

I did all the timing settings I could come up with and that memory just won't cut it. I originally wanted PC2400 but they didn't have it at the show anywhere I looked.

Like you, I'll stick with it until the good stuff comes out too. I'm content well enough with it at 1.6...for now.
