Anyone know I make a bootable pendrive? I saw a article on the net a few months ago, spent ages looking for one again. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

I don't have a good answer for you so keep that in mind as I say the following.

As near as I can tell, your pen drive has to have a bootable partition put onto it. I did a quick search on Google and I see that some pen drives come with a utility to allow machines to boot from them. I don't know what the utility does.

Perhaps you could check the web site of the manufacture of your pen drive and see what you can find out.

Good luck.

Its simple. You have 2 choices ASSUMING your MB supports boot from USB. If your MB does not support boot from USB, then you're SOL.

1. Buy a USB drive with a built in boot feature. This will load a rudimentary OS so you can retrieve files from your PC in case of a crash.
2. Buy a big stinking USB flash drive and install your choice of OS onto it. I wouldn't try this on anything less than 1GB unless you're running Windows 95/98. Also make sure to get a USB 2.0 versions as the loading time would really suck otherwise.

I know nothing..but agree with Toaster Oven that your motherboard MUST support "boot from USB"..you can check by going into your BIOS, and seeing everything that you can boot from, if there isn't anything about USB, then your out of lock.. :(
