I shipped my last computer UPS, and it got trashed, so now there (supposedly) paying up to 2000$ for my new computer. Whats on the newegg list so far is this:
3.2c P4
Abit IC7-G Max2
ATI 9800XT 256
Antec True Blue 480w PSU
1 GB (2x512mb) Mushkin Level 2 black PC3500 DDRam
36GB Raptor
Logitech optical mouse
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Thermalright SP-94
Win XP Pro
Arctic Silver 5
I was gonna get the Antec Sonata case, but the Chieftec Matrix was recommended to me, I wish newegg carried it. I know there is no monitor, but I didn't want to get a cheap one, since I have a moderate one I could use, and I couldn't slip a 700$ Sony in somewhere hehe. Any suggestions?

Tirbyren check this Marix case out at Directron.com Black marble (http://store.yahoo.com/directron/blackcasearts.html) . They have other Matrix cases there too here (http://search.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/nsearch?catalog=directron&query=matrix&.autodone=http%3A%2F%2Fstore.yahoo.com%2Fdirectron %2Fcases---case-fans.html) . I have bought from directron in the past. The default shipping isn't as quick as NewEgg but they still do agood job.

What's the total so far?
I'd get another raptor for raid, and maybe some klipsch 5.1 :D
That logitech mouse better be a mx500 or mx700.
Maybe a dvd burner too.
I would save your money and go with an AMD setup, and put the leftover in a savings account for a rainy day
Don't forget to have UPS ship the new parts so you can have a 4k system

Ugh, UPS is trying to say they won't pay cause I didn't pack it well enough, which they didn't tell me and I don't really believe. I've shipped computers and parts before. And if it was so bad why'd they take me money? Grrr.. #%@!!
id get a 9800 pro 128mb instead of the xt, it will save u $150, and you probably wont even notice a difference....at all.

A Prometeia is pushing it for 2 grand. I would go for some good watercooling instead, and spend the money saved on good RAM and peripherals.

Send a PM to SilverSinkSam. He's an expert in online trading.....he should know what your rights are when it comes to this stuff. If you feel you packed it well enough (meaning, equivelant or better than what places like Newegg send stuff to you in), then do NOT at all let them get away with this. If, however, you wrapped a brown bag around your case and called it good......well, you know what I'm getting at.
Happen to have any pics? I'd actually like to see your computer....
Also, UPS might just be testing you. Being a company that has such a horrible reputation, I don't doubt that they try this response first when people complain about damaged merchandise. Make sure to push them.....as I said, thye may just be testing to see how you react. There are many people who will just give up when told this, so they think they can get away with it....

Actually No I don't have pics, But UPS does. I didn't have a camera at the time. I've been snowed in here and the cable was out all weekend, so now I gotta catchup. If i call the ups number, the 1800 something ups, i have it written down, they just continously put me on hold. I suppose I should go after actual UPS and not the particular UPS Store?
It is standard proceedure to tell everyone, no matter how well packed the item was, that there was insufficient packaging. They just want to see how serious you are about this. Don't let them pull that crap. It might take a while but they should eventually pay.

If you need help I need details, PM me and I'll try to help, UPS usually is good at resolving this, have they inspected the box already? Sounds like they may have. DO NOT THROW ANYTHING AWAY....IE the box and packaging

I don't understand? You shipped a computer to someone, or someone shipped a computer to you?
I thought at first you had a computer shipped from some place, and it arrived broken or something, I'm confused.

SSS,
could he get UPS to send him the trashed system as well as pay for a new one? Then he could reuse some of the non-trashed parts. And the case would be the ultimate mod with tire tracks on it ;) He can atleast request the photos, right?

LOL, what UPS said probably just did themselves in. "saying you didn't pack it well enough" Well, when you ship something it has a value and a claim. Which Im sure you said, its a computer valued at $2,000 (for insurance purposes) well, at my ups here in town, there is a BIG FAT SIGN on the wall that reads " we are sorry for the incovinence, but any packages with a value of $300 or more must be inspected before being shipped." So, if they inspected it, and shipped it, its now their responsibility, thats why they have insurance for sale.

I moved, from MA to MN and it came trashed, I then moved back, family trouble, but thats beside the point. So I should call them up again? The manager at the UPS Store I shipped it from seems to be clueless, he didn't tell me UPS had told him about the insufficient packaging, etc, until I went to the store and talked to him.

yep call them again, and again until they do something about it. If they don't, get a lawyer, they will get it done.
