XP Will Not Load.

XP Pro. Was working fine, then according to my friend, for no reason it will not load.

It gets to the Welcome Screen, then a mouse cursor pops up, and it goes to the color of his desktop. No Icons will load, the start menu doesn't come up, nothing. However a Ctrl-Alt-Del will pull up the device manager. Thats as far as I can get.

Safe mode everything works.

I tried last known good settings, didn't help.

Any Ideas?

sounds like explorer might have been corrupted, maybe. not sure though, maybe someone else can shed light on the subject

it does kind of sound like explorer is either corrupted or not loading with windows. when you pull up the task manager with Ctrl+Alt+Del try opening a new task and running explorer. (File--> New Task (Run...), "explorer").

not totally sure if thats even why its doing that, but worth a shot.

Tried that but it didn't work.

Got it. It was some soft of spyware that took over the computer.

ahh, good. just another day with spyware takin over computer, lol
