I need information on what Intel motherboard out there can really support ECC DDR memory(and is not SMP)...The 875 chipset is supposed to support ECC...But I know the IC7 will not post with registered ECC PC2100 Kingston Value Ram (I have a boat load of it) or registered ECC PC2700 Kingston Value Ram (have a boat load of it also)...So for my newest box I am looking for a motherboard that is "the badest of the bad" and will also allow me to run MemTest 86 on these ECC memory modules that I am trading for working on this guys company's stuff, because everyone that is a possible buyer wants me to "test" it...Not good enought that it was a pull and was working in whatever sever it was in...Kinda have my eye on the Asus P4800C-E Deluxe...Any information regaurding the 875 chipsets ability to deal with ECC ram would be greatly appreciated...:D

I personally use the gigabyte 8knxp board with 2 gigs of crucial PC3200 ECC ram. Newegg has some of it. I would think the other 875P boards would be able to work on ECC ram. I've always trusted and dealt with crucial, so I've only had the best of luck with it. Here's link to crucial's website that will not only offer you the memory you want, but also show you what it will accept.

Any of that should work in that board.

(I don't suppose I should mention that this ecc memory is also nicely overclockable too... :p )

The 875P chipset supports ECC RAM - but I don't think it supports registered ECC. So it might not be an Abit problem after all. You can check this out:

It says ECC but not Reg ECC.

A person I know claims that he integrated a system with Reg ECC RAM with the Intel Serverboard S875WP1 (single proc P4 serverboard) - but can't vouch for it.

A DP Xeon motherboard will give you the required memory support, but the costs will go up quite a bit.
