even though the pc4000 is a higher number per se than the pc3500, the black level 2 pc3500 is really mushkin's flagship. it uses bh-5 chips (limited in availiability, since it's not longer produced by winbond, and thus cost a premium) and in my opinion is better than the pc4000.

the pc4000 runs 3-4-4 timings, and the pc3500 runs 2-2-2 (they only guarantee 2-3-2 though for intel systems). the pc4000 would be better for your 2.4c if you're going 1:1 and the pc3500 would be better for you go to 5:4. it's debatable what's better, but most people now say that 5:4 at tight timings is better than 1:1 with loose. also with 5:4 and the pc3500, you could easily run 280fsb+, since that would put your ram at about 225, which the bh-5 should be able to do without much trouble. with the pc4000, you probably couldn't get to as high an fsb at 1:1, and going 5:4, well, you may as well go with the pc3500 and tight timings than at loose.
