It would be much better to try to have a meeting of the minds and explain how if your mom's BF would allow SETI to run, it would not effect anything he might be trying to do, and would be very beneficial to you as well.

In the way of being informative, SETI can be run as a "service" if you are using either Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Do a search on SETI as a Service.

There is a program called SETIhide that supposedly does this, but I've never tried it. http://www.scheit.de/seti/setihide.html

Since it is not your comp maybe you can talk him into at least running the screensaver, that way it will never be running while he uses the comp. Yes it does crunch a lot slower, but slower is better than not at all.

I've run SETIhide (1.5.4.4) for a couple of years now. It works well, has caching and yes, does allow you to hide it. It also keeps fairly nice statistical records.

The majority of my 7700+ units were generated with the help of SETIhide.

if needs help to setup SETIHide, feel free to let me know too. been using it on my P4c rigs, like that way it track both crunching WUs w/ AR/graphs/info at the same real time. unlike SETI Driver/Spy which could only show 1WU's info.

dont use seti hide, run seti and a service with firedaemon, do a search for it on google and downlaod the "lite" version which is free and gets the job done.
