View Full Version : I don't have the balls to o/c my new cpu! LOL

If you've read my previous post about o/c'ing my celeron 700 to 875 with a 83mhz fsb. I've had 2 BH6's, and one stopped working after I o/c'ed my old celeron at 83mhz fsb. I never knew if it was the odd bus speed or just my ignorance to computers at the time and trying to screw around w/the inside of them. Now I have a new cpu and the urge to o/c it. I wouldn't worry so much if it was a "normal" fsb or 100 or something of the sort, but I can't get it there. The only cooling I have on my system is the OEM hsf combo on the cpu and 2 fans on my v3 3k. Oh yeah and the PS fan. My old celeron 300A was o/c'ed to 450 for a very long time, but that was a "normal" bus speed. I guess I'm not cut out to be a hard-core o/c'er. :)

With a 10.5 multiplier cpu, you are kind of limited in FSB choices. I can't see 83 being detrimental to hardware at the cpu/MB level. It could be tough on PCI/AGP devices but many will accept this speed without incident. I think your previous problem was a fluke, and the likelyhood of a repeat is slim.

The obvious alternative is to get a different cpu that is more suitable for overclocking.

whatever you do get some decent cooling before you do it ,,or youll just repeat the same performance :P
