Wireless cables!?

Ok is there a way to add wireless capbility to a normal router? My friend lives with some firends and he just got a laptop. They already have a normal router and the house is wired. Is there some attachment + wirelsss nic card that would let him plug unto the router and run around the house cableless?

What you are looking for is an Access Point. Every SOHO company (D-Link, Linksys etc) makes them. You will get better transfer speeds if the brand of the access point is the same as the wireless nic in your laptop generally (depending on the manufacturer).
