View Full Version : Is a PIII 800 EB overclockable?
Hello,
I have a Abit VP6 motherboard with two PIII-800EB cpu's on it. Is it possible to overclock these cpu's?
I tried setting a increased speed in the softmenu but that didn't work. Any ideas?
Thanx
It's probably possible to overclock them some, but the EB's make it tough. Did you try the "user defined" processor mode in the bios, or just picking a different processor? What kind of cooling are you using, and what RAM?
I picked a different cpu in the softmenu. I tried a user defined and increased the core voltage a tad. Don't know how far I can push the core voltage though.
I'm using two high quality sdrams (133Mhz),plus high quality coolers.

With my Abit MB, (VT6X4), I had to go past
all the pre-set CPU's listed and get to
the user setting before I could change
the FSB.
With the 800EB's the only way to OC is
to increase the FSB speed. Put your
RAM down to CAS3 latency first, and if
it is stable at the higher FSB speeds, then
try CAS2. (My PC133 ram runs OK at
CAS2 with FSB at 133,but has to be at 3
to run any higher...)
Ive got my P3 800EB running @ 900 nps,
ive got a Asus CUSL2 mobo
128/133mhz ram
Its been running like this for 4 months now with no crashes etc etc.
I have not got any extra cooling etc etc.
So to your question, "Yes" they can be o/clocked :)
