specs:

pIII700 OEM with abit slocket adapter@875
abit be6II Mobo
voodoo5 video card
256mb of generic pc100 ram
20 gig maxtor hd (ultra dma66)
8 gig samsung hd (ultra dma66)

windows tends to fail some of the time during bootup. when it does boot, everthing is fine. cooling doesn't seem to be the issue. i have a p3-Monster cooler (heatsink and fan) and i have added another pentium heatsink and fan on the other side of the chip. i've never seen it get above 33 celceius.

after reading some, i realized that the problem might be the fact that my fsb is @ 125mhz, making the cycles accross my agp slot a whopping 83mhz (supposed to run @ 66). i also read that you can increase the stabiltiy of the agp slot and the whole system by upping the i/o voltage and the cpu voltage. i set cpu voltage to 1.7 (was 1.65) and i/o voltage to 3.8 (was 3.3 i believe). i found that windows still would hang sometimes.

my questions are:

my slocket adapter has jumpers to set the voltage for the cpu. right now it is set to 'auto' and i have made all my voltage changes in the bios. my hadware doctor program shows that my voltage is @ 1.7, but should i still set the jumpers for the same voltage?

also, how much more should i up the voltage on both paramaters to get a stable system? i see alot of people have success with the pIII700 all the way up to 1000mhz with 1.7. i have problems booting @ 875 with 1.7. is my problem really the agp bus speed? will increasing the i/o voltage even more help? how far can i go?

help me please!

I would try to lower the I/O voltage to 3.3 or 3.4 (Yes, I know, this seems odd, but has helped lots of people before!). Maybe set the CPU voltage to 1.75.

Try setting the PCI divider to 1/4, and the AGP divider to 2/3, and if that works, see if your computer can handle 133MHz fsb...

Best of luck!
