I am ordering my system today to include:

Intel P4 2.6c
Asus P4P800 deluxe

and either

Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, (Twin Pack) 184 Pin 512MB(256MBx2) DDR PC-3200 with Platinum-Silver Heat Spreader - Retail Model# TWINX512-3200C2PT Cas Latency: 2-3-3

or

Kingston HyperX Series Dual Kits 184 Pin 512MB(256MBx2) DDR PC-3200 Model# KHX3200K2/512 Cas Latency: 2-2-2-6-1T

I would like to OC the CPU (I won't OC the RAM) to hopefully to the 2.8 to 3.2 range and would like to know if it's worth the extra $5 for the Kingston stuff and will it play well with my board?

TIA

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if it plays nicely with the ASUS P4P8000 Deluxe?

Yep, it's a total no-brainer. The HyperX 3200 (non-A) is a BH5 module where the Corsair 3200 is CH5. It would be worth about 50 bucks more to have BH5 over CH5, so when the difference is only 5 dollars you need to go in that direction.

Also if your going to get a 2.6c chip I would get a 875 intel chipset board. Also you can get muskin level 2 pc3200 and pc3500 which has BH-5 chip's.

Ok I dont know much about intel being a amd guy but AFAIK the 865 dont use Gat I think or whatever it is and the 875's do so if your going to get a 800fsb intel shouldn't to get the best performance out of that cpu you should get a 875chipset board?

performance diff, if any between 865 and 875 chipsets is minmal, and for a lot of people the 865 is a better choice as it can squeeze more out some chips than the 875 can... (though vice versa in some cases) All dependant on the CPU you get and your luck.

It's PAT, GAT is Abit's unauthorized implementation on ...drum roll... 865 chipsets. The Asus also has an anauthorized but nonetheless effective PAT implementation on the P4P800. Only the cheesy 865 boards do not implement this feature.
