View Full Version : fsb for a 866 EB
What is a realistic fsb to achieve while overclocking an 866 EB?
Also, about how high can a GeForce 256 take?
I'm using a CUSL2 board and have an Alpha Cooler on the processor.
150 if your cpu can handle 975 mhz which it just might do and if your memory can handle it. you should have no problems with 140fsb or maybe a little more.

150...go for it or higher at least....
as for the GeForce taking high bus speeds...they can run as high as 100 or even higher than that so if you go for 150, 1/2 of that is only 75 which is very low for GeForce cards.
I'm rather new to overclocking, so I just wanted to make sure I have this correct:
1. I can raise the fsb as high as the RAM can take and the system remains stable and the GeForce shouldn't have a problem.
2. If it was the RAM that was failing, I could lower the FSB:SDRAM ratio from 133:133 to 133:100. Which would slow the RAM, but allow the system to go higher.
3. I want to stay below a certain processor temp, I heard about 50C. This too high, too low?
Please correct me on any of these items before I burn something out.
I got the fsb to 149mhz. I had to raise the voltage to 1.7, but didn't have to lower the ratio to 4:3. It's been stable in UT and never above 44C.
However, if I go to 150, it crashes after an hour in UT. Do I need more voltage, or have I hit my RAM's limit?
Could be either, or a PCI device that is going south... Try a higher Vcore and if that doesn't help, remove the PCI cards during testing.
