View Full Version : Still Trying...for higher speeds
OK guys....i have my p3 500@600Mhz stable and working with a peltier kit...the point is that i want to get it up to 800 ! or 900 ! that the max that my board can handle (ASUS P3C-E i820 Rambus and 180MHz FSB !) so can anyone tell me if he knows or knows anyone who done it , how the h*ll can I reach up more MHZ and stable ? i have it at 600MHz , 2.2V and 120MHz FSB. any recomendations ? for sites people to ask and stuff ! please help me if you can....thank you.

Check out the data base off the home overclockers page. Looks like 600 on a p3-500 is about average thats even with a couple freaks lying about there speed (the top three post on that datebase) The 500 has a large die size and just doesn't seem to be able to do it. you might want to change Mb to get it up there but if youdo that you could just get a smaller die CPU for the same price...That would kind of be defeating your purpose of OC'ing that 500. This is just the facts man..

You should count yourself lucky..I have a katmai 500, and it sux, the most I could get out of it is 600 and not completely stable. if you want a good clocker, then go for a 600e or 700e both are exelent clockers .
I think the katmai ver. of the PIII 500 and 600 are the worst cpu's for clocking to come from intel...and it's obvios that the katmai core was already pushed to the limits to get 500 & 600mhz out 'em.
Get a coppermine,they're cheap as heck right now
