I will be adding wireless to my home network soon and I'm considering wireless usb instead of a pci or pcmcia devices. I'm seeking information, and or your experiences with usb wireless devices. Ease of config, useability, performance etc.

TIA

What is your reason for using a USB adapter rather than PCI? If it is USB 1.1, forget about it, its performance will suffer. If it is USB 2.0 then either way, its up to you. Personaly i would go pci if I have the slots available, UNLESS you are running 3 or more other pci cards. You have limited bandwith, and if you use the usb 2.0 ports conneted to your mobo, a lot of those bypass the pci bus, not all, but some.

Thanks for the input.
Here's the deal, trying to kill two birds with one stone. My son is at college right now, and when he comes home for summer he will bring his pc home and want to be on the net. My house is finished and it will be a royal pain to get a wire to his room, so wireless is a good alternative. He'll just be surfing, no mega file transfers and his pc is usb 2.0. I have a wired laptop in the living room, (usb 1.1) that I would like to use wireless in the family room, (where the big tv is) so I can surf and watch. The WAP will be in the family room, same level as his room. I don't want to buy a pci wireless for him and a wireless pc card for me. I'll be getting the WAP before he gets home and I can use the laptop wireless at will. When he gets home, he'll have the wireless, no big deal, I can just be on my pc in the basement and watch cable tv on my pc.
