View Full Version : How far will i be able to OC my 2.4b?
I'm going with water cooling because my PC has been running hot since day one (59c under max load), see this thread (http://forum.oc-forums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=252121&highlight=Chevette+Heatercore) and also so maybe i can try and overclock this bugger again. It's a 2.4b SL6EU, about the crappiest p4 2.4 there is as far as i know. What should i be able to hit with a decent water cooling rig? Not what i could possibly hit if i were the luckiest man in the world, but what i would probably get. Thanks.

I'm running esentially the same MOBO as you and my 2.4B's both hit 3.0 on air (using good ram. Using the cheap ram I'm stuck at 2.7), and my processor codes are nothing special.
If you cannot hit 2.9+ then PM me and we can compare bios settings.
Well i won't be able to hit 2.9+ on air, probably with water cooling though, but it wouldnt be worth it. Think i'll just have to give up on this one and wait till my next upgrade in about a year.

How high is your overclock now, what are the settings? What symptoms are you experiencing when you increase the FSB?
Chips vary a lot. I've had 1.8a's that only did 2.25GHz and my present one does 3.4GHz. Hard to know just which yours is until you try it. C1 2.4b's also vary a lot. Some are not very good at all, like 2.7GHz. Some are awesome, like 3.6GHz. Yours will fall somewhere in between.
It's not OCd at all right now. Only tried to once a month or so after i got it a year ago but had bad heat problems. Anyhow, thanks for the replies.
