Before I move on I'd like to try and oc this chip. I have an Asus p3v (not p3vx) mobo, a cel 433 chip with adapter. I'm totally new but i gave this a shot. I moved the jumpers from cpu66.8/pci33.4 to cpu83.30/pci41.65
The system got to a windows start screen and I got a protection fault, with a couldn't start or find shell.exe or something. I backed it down to and intermediate setting and got the same kind of crash after window screen. I went back to orginal setting now it works fine.
That was the only thing i adjusted. It was set at 6.5 multiple and the pci bus freq multiple was at x2.
So anyway, did I basically do the right thing and it's not overclocking? If I really have to wrestle around with this I won't try again but if I missed something obvious please let me know.
thx in advance..

Sounds like you did fine. You may need more voltage to get it over the hump. If you don't have a Vcore adjustment in the bios it could be a pain for you to try for more volts... Especially if it's a slot 1 cpu! If you have a PCI/3 setting you might try that. That would help if you have a peripheral card that doesn't like the high PCI bus speed. It wouldn't be an "elegant solution" but it would point you in the right direction.
