My pc is running very hot, sitting at 42-45degs idle to about 65degs load...
if you take a look at my sig you'll see what rig im running, why is it getting so hot? iv barely overclocked cos of my lack of knowledge and these blistering temps. heatsink and fan are mounted fine, iv got arctic silver 5 as my thermal paste, and all equipment is fully functional. The case is tidy and cool to touch...and the heatsink is only ever slightly warm....do i need a new heatsink/fan?...and if so what heatsinks and fans do you guys recomend?
i thought a volcano 11 was respectable...especially with a TT smart fan2 on it?? or is the temp sensor in my Xaser3 (which is what im taking these temps off) screwing with me? its sensor is stuck between my cpu and mobo using Arctic silver tape stuff.
im only going with air cooling, so dont suggest water (even if the TT Aquarius 3s look very nice, and i dont have the courage to use the vapochill extreme titanium case i bought on impulse one day). Thanks as always to you guys

Well the fact that te the HS is only a little warm (on load?) makes me think that it may not be mounted well or that your temps are being read wrong. You might try re-seating your HS (make sure you put the AS on right and everything), if that doesn't fix it and it is still only a little warm you might get a digidoc type sensor (www.sidewindercomputers.com has some) and put it next to the die, if it reports a similarly high temp then either your HS still isn't mounted right or what you consider warm is not really only warm- but hot:D

I don't think much of thermaltake but I do think a litte more of them than that. You are touching the HS when it's under load right? If not you might actually want a new HS- SLK-900 or SP-97 would be good with a nice 92mm or 80mm fan.

Are you really saying you have a Vapochill just sitting around? I would suck it up and plug that sucker in!

Oh, and WELCOME TO THE FORUMS

EDIT: The fan is on and the HS isn't too dusty right?

iv just tried reseating the heatsink and fan...and it now feels much hotter...but temps are still being reported the same, in both the TT sensor and the mobo temps. Iv looked at the Thermalright SP97, but theres no where in the uk iv found that stocks the bugger, only the pentium version. Any ideas? would it be possible to get a Thermalright and some kind of fan adapter so i can put a 120mm tornado fan on it?

Ya... Umm... Can I have it? Ill pay for shipping!!! ;)

LOl you need to hook that sucker up! I doubt you will break anything if you just be careful, and if you did you could just sell it and buy a new processor.

might take your advice and have a go...maybe fill it with old tech first before i move my pride and joy into it...that way i only mess up old stuff. What kind of temps am i looking at from a vapochill with my rig?? any ideas on where to get an SP97 in the uk?

VERY LOW! sub zero anways (don't know for sure lol but you can search the forums or google and find thread on it- or their website) ... I don't know about the HS though- I am from US, though I have seen a couple of threads around about UK vendors- you might wanna try searching for them.
