View Full Version : Am I just lucky? (Celeron 600@900...)

From what I've read, what I have shouldn't work.
I have celeron 600 @900, CBO stepping (the bad one!!) @ 100mhz fsp, 1.85 volts retail HSF.
Asus S370-dl slocket and Asus P2B-F.
I have no problems @ all.
Q3A for hours...8 hours of SandraSoft burn in...8 hours of "Stability Test" program.
I have no lockups, no crashes.
Am I just lucky, or what. Temperate, too the touch, remains fairly moderate, but I have no temp monitor.

Opinions?

It's not uncommon for cb0 600's to get to 100FSB. The majority of them probably won't but some do.

Congratulations!

well i just got my Celeron 600Mhz cB0 today... mines' at the same voltage as yours.. runnin at 900Mhz 100FSB 1.85v So far so good.. for now. Should i go exchange it for the cC0.. how better of a processor is it? and does it perform better than the cB0 when it's overclocked or not?

All models of the 600 will perform exactly the same at the same speed. More cC0's are able to hit the 900MHz than the cB0's though, thats all.

So do i have a Celeron II? What's the difference between a Celeron I and II?
Any suggestions whether if i should return my cB0 and get a cC0?

Yes, you would have a Celeron II. The celeron I's are the older models, the Slot/PPGA ones, based on the mendocino core. The newer ones, 533+ FCPGA are usually called Celeron IIs, but Intel doesn't say that, they consider it just another model of the original celerons. Also, the new ones use a modified coppermine (p3) core. As for your cB0, if it runs stable at 900MHz, its a good find. Usually cC0's make it that far slightly easier and have a chance at higher MHz sometimes, but it gets rarer as you go up. BUT, you are not guaranteed 900 even with a cC0, so it's your choice.

well the problem is... it's not that stable. When i run the Prime95 torture test, it won't even get pass the self test that it does first. It always gives me a ROUND OFF error somewhere in the point from test 1-26. Sometimes it crashes out of my games. I am at 1.85v now, should i increase it to 1.9v? Is that too high? The default is 1.5v for this cpu, and i am only using the stock intel heatsink/fan. And what are the other cpu torture/burn-in tests that i can use?

You may want to get a better HSF if you want to push the voltage up farther, and that might be just what it needs. You could also opt to exchange it for a cC0, which in some cases will run cooler and have a better chance of reaching a high target.

I would definately have to vote for the cC0. I've gotten two of them, one for myself and one for a buddy both doin the 900 dance at 1.65v which is actually .05v under the listed default voltage for the cC0. Mine is on a BH6 1.0 and his is on a BE6II rev 2.0. Ran Prime95 for 5 hours straight with Intel HSF but temps under full load were a bit high for me at 48C. Popped a Gorb on and dropped to 41C under full load, 29 at idle. That I can live with. They are very sweet chips indeed.

Ok.. so how can you tell if it's a cC0 or a cB0 on the Celeron package from the outside of the box?

Check out this link http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sspec/icp.htm According to this, a 600 CeleronII cC0 will have an S-spec number of either SL4NX for retail boxed processor or SL4PB for OEM processor listed in the number(towards the end of the number) on the box.

do motherboards that support bco support cco
i have a bh6 v1.1, after flashing the bios, will it let me use cco celerons?
(the bios will let me use up to celeron 700s.)
just asking as i read somewhere that not all mobos support cco processors.
do i have to worry about the type of celeron I get if i am getting a 633?

I don't see why not. In fact, I would appreciate if you posted the link for where you read that!
The cCO has a higher stock voltage than the cBO (which I have). I believe it is 1.7 instead of 1.5 So long as you can control your motherboards voltage (which must be or you wouldn't be considering these chips), it shouldn't be a problem.

I may be completely wrong though, which is why I ask for the link.

my Celery633 is a CB0, week 33 and does 1064 not stable - however- i have gotten it to 1004 MHz - complete stablity look at a post I had on the ozzie site

http://www.overclockers.com.au/pcdb/view.php?name=Gallivant&page=stats

they CB0 aint that bad- just get good parts - it'll do 100FSB, without breaking a sweat-- 105 FSB @ 1.85v , I/O volts @3.6

cheers guys

my CBo celery400 runs at 2v.

Dude...you got the old school celeron. The celemine chips start with a VCORE of 1.5, the cCO celemine 600 is 1.7

Hi I'm new to the forum, just got my Computer:

Celeron 600E
Motherboard????
128MB RAM PC 100
32MB 3D card
Golden Orb Processor Fan

I got a few rather silly questions for you all.

1. How do I tell what Motherboard I have when I have no documents, just the motherboard in the pc?
2.Can I run at 900 with the aftermarket fan?
3.How do you get the tempreture of the CPU on Motherboard monitor 5 setup?
4.What FBS could I get With MotherBoard at 100mhz standard?(that's all I know about it)

thanx heaps

Alex:

You might want to try a program like SiSoft Sandra 2001.

2.Can I run at 900 with the aftermarket fan?

Yes, the HSF you have should work better than the stock HSF that comes with the chip.

3.How do you get the tempreture of the CPU on Motherboard monitor 5 setup?

No clue, depends on what motherboard you have, mine doesn't support it so I don't know.

4.What FBS could I get With MotherBoard at 100mhz standard?(that's all I know about it)

Actually your motherboard is using 66 MHz right now if the celeron is running at 600. 100 FSB sounds like its top speed or the highest _standard_ speed anyway, it might have 103, 105 and so on.

If you can figure out which motherboard you have, it's alot more helpful since you can look for its specifications on the manufacturers website.
