How do I figure out what brand of ram i have w/o looking @ it. I tried taking the heatspreader off, but i thermaltaped it on when i got it. and i have since forgotten what kind i have. Please help.

get sisoft sandra, it can read wot ram u got...

CPUz can do that too tho..

dont know the web adresses atm tho... ill do a search for ya.

go to "mainboard information" i believe or "system summary", one of those two, then scroll down, till you get to the RAM section, there ittl list all the info it can find on the RAM..

I bought some generic PC3200 ram which shows as NanYa Tech in cpuz
They work up to about DDR420 but will not do better timings than 3-3-3-8
so not great. Which is why they are in a drawer now.But they did not give me any problems either.

Yeah, nanya is not bad quality, but it isn't typically the highest performaing stuff. Kind of like micron. I've used a sizeable quantity of nanya at times and had no issues (for non-overclocked machines).
