how do I get rid of all that thermal compound on my FCPGA CPU ?

when I installed my lame heatsink I ended up puttin way too much termal compound...the whole packet!
I want to install a better heatsink now but first i gotta clean the cpu from all that white crap. what do I use to clean it up ? A cloth ? my fingers ?

Use rubbing alcohol and either a lint-free cloth or something like a q-tip. The oil from your fingers would not be good
