I'm getting close to purchasing the parts for my first try at computer building. I've done a good amount of research and this is the list I have came up with:

-KingWin Black Aluminum Case
-Antec 430 Power Supply

-Asus P4C800-E DELUXE motherboard
-Pentium 4 2.8 GHz 800MHz
-OCZ performance Series PC-4200 (512x2)
-Western Digital 120GB 7200rpm

-SAPPHIRE RADEON 9800PRO, 256MB DDR
-Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS

-Thermalright SLK-947-U Copper Heatsink w/ Tornado 80mm
-Artic Silver Ceramique thermal paste

-Lite On Black 52x32x52 CD-RW Drive
-SAMSUNG 3.5inch Floppy

Looking for any good opinions on what I have, and how you think it will run/oc.

Thanks

For Overclocking, I would get the P4 2.4 Ghz. It's less money and is really good for overclocking. Everything else sounds good though.

Welcome dude!

REplace the Thermalright SLK-947-U with the SP-94 (unless you plan on going to an AMD setup) and unless your deaf get a fan controler for the Tornado.

and the 2.8s are fine if you get the good MO stepping

for a few xtra bucks you can get a truepower 480 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-909&catalog=58&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=1) or the one with lights (go shiny!)

and for only like 40 bucks more you can get a
9800XT (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=48&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycode=&propertycodevalue=4989,3671)

so if you need to adhear to a budget get a less expensive CPU and a better Graphics car and some cooling and power.

Wow, thanks for the fast replies.

Taking a look at some of the replies, but I'm wondering about one thing.

Is there a definite difference between the 9800pro and the 9800xt. Is it worth the ~40-50$ price climb?

I would say so. I think the 9600xt smashes the 9600pro, so probably the same with the 9800's.
