View Full Version : PIII 733 133FSB
I have a PIII 733 133FSB SECC2 on a Abit VT6X4 with Mushkin 128 133 Rev2, Voodoo3 3000 AGP, 30 Gig Seagate Barracuda 7200, Turtle Beach Montego II, Vantec PD5030 HS&F with Artic Silver Thermal Compound. What is the most conservative setting (bump the speed between 800 to 900mhz?) that I can do without affecting the rest of the system? I have spent some time with the forum checking out who's using what. Can't seem to find anybody using this type CPU. However, I am quite sure that senior member like Tim would surely know what to do with it. Need your help guys...
I appreciate the kind words, but I can't claim to be familiar with your motherboard. All of the hardware you listed seems like excellent choices for overclocking, with the possible exception of the Voodoo3. I seem to recall that they occasionally have problems on high bus speeds.
With the rev2 ram you should be able to go to 150+FSB. 150FSB would give you 825MHz. If your board has a 1/4PCI divider, that would only be 37.5 which is not too bad. The 100MHz AGP could be a problem though, unless you have a divider greater than 2/3.
If I were you, I'd just set the Vcore to about 1.8-1.85v, and start by bringing the FSB up to 145, and then in 2MHz increments or so, keep going and see how long it stays happy. Once you find that it is no longer stable a little tweaking may cure it, or you can back up a MHz or two, until it IS happy.
Just keep an eye on the temperatures and you should be fine.
Good luck.
Thanks a lot for your advise Tim. I will follow your advise and let you know whatever result I will achieve.
