Hello, I have a compaq preario 5bw120 with a 600 mhz celeron II (Intel 82810E-810E chipset)(FSB 67 mhz). I was wondering if this chip could be overclocked. If so, please point me in the right direction in how to do this particular task. I have seen similar sights showing this chip overclocked, but I am not sure if the compaq bios, fsb or voltage can be changed or not. Thanks in Advance, MAS

Have you tried any Compaq news groups? they might have better insight as far as getting into the bios, and tweeks...and if you can get into the bios, then come back here to overclockers.com and check out the home page for tips and tricks to overclocking.

somebody here might also know how.

Let's do the math... A Celeron running @600MHz using FSB@67Mhz means that the multiplier is locked @9. If you set the FSB to 100MHz you could have a 900MHz CPU! However, I'm not sure if the CPU can handle that. Forget about using the Compaq motherboard, every OEM MoBo sucks! Get yourself a Soyo SY-V6BE+. You can force the FSB to 100MHz with a jumper and change, and even add to it using the BIOS! This is the way I have my PII 333MHz overclocked to 464MHz. Good luck.
