View Full Version : Help! Am I doing something wrong ?
I have a Celly 366 Of the malay variety, SL36 or 26 I believe been a while since I looked under the hood. Anyhoo 128 MB Atlas Precision CAS2 PC133 A golden orb with thermal grease, on a ABIT Slocket!!! All tied in with a SOYO SY 6BA +IV. Used to only be stable at 495 with PC100, Swapped in the PC133 And it was stable for like 3 Weeks, now I get random reboot, the vcore was at 2.12 I bumped it up to 2.17 and it seemed stable again until poof random reboots. Should I up the vcore ? The temp on the cpu was anywere between 35C and 47C I didn't think that was too bad, can anyone please help me ? Either post a reply or e-mail me @ SpeeDj@ameritech.net THANKS!
I forgot to say, stable @ 550 MHz then the random reboots =(
Well Speedj,
You very nearly described my system. I run my Celly 366/550 system 24/7 and I've run it steady for about a month now with no problems at all. I'm using a Soyo SY-6VCA/Abit Slotket 3 to run a Malay SL35S at 550@2.07 vcore. I've got a mixture of 128M PC133 and 64M PC100, set to CAS 3. Currently I'm running a GlobalWin FOP-32 on mine, and my cpu never rises above 35.5C even under full load (UT). Nor do my case temps rise above 26C.
I used to have random lockups and reboots due to extremely high high case/cpu/video temperatures when I was running my MSI board and a P2-350/Viper770U/Voodoo2/2x5400rpm drives. I discovered that my card coolers had become clogged with dust and were no longer cooling effectively. When I cleaned it all out, and improved the cooling of my case, the lockups and reboots stopped. It really sounds to me like you've got a heat problem there. Now whether it's the cpu, drives or the video overheating I can't say. It's probably cumulative. I'm suspicious of the Orb. I've read a lot of negative comments about it's cooling capability. A 90MHz FSB is iffy for some 366s, and 100Mhz is over the line for some.
When you changed the memory, did you continue to run at 495, or did you bump it up to 550 at that time? Have you tried to back it off and run 366 or 495, using the standard vcore? What about going back to the the 495 config with only the PC100 memory? Did you reflash or make any BIOS tweaks? I'd try to restore to the last known good setup/hardware, and start working my way back up, one change at a time. Good luck.

## Temps right now are hovering anywhere between 42C to 52C I believe. Not great but liveable due to no more lockups and random reboot's ##

## Gonna be switching cases when I got the money, working on getting another Celly system up and swinging. It's a dual Celly system, with a ABIT BP6 Dual Board. The processors are SL36C Manufactured the same week! =) I just picked it up from a buddy, he had her going strong @ 96MHz bus, using some cheap crap OEM Sink's and Fans, once I get that one running I am gonna pick up a new case for my Solo celly, thinking going matching INWIN Q500's. Right now it's a no name full tower. Just chugging along. ##

## Well currently it's running stable at 525 but that is with a V-Core of 2.2 Hoping to finish up my watercooling rig here soon, got the pump the box and the tubing waiting on my waterblock and radiator and then I am going to try for 550 Again. It was going at 550 for a bit but I don't know what stopped it. I think cooling is a good concern. I have a cooler on my video *A voodoo Banshee* and an intake and an outtake fan and also the power supply fan. Hoping watercooling will clear some of that up and etc... ##
Just another curiousity question, know of a good site to order some good heatsinks ? Like alpha's or those globalwins ? I need to get like three now with that new mobo. Any help is appreciated =) Thanks!

you could try
www.3dfxcool.com,check out their cooling
hmmmmm, something don't sound right cuz i have a soyo syba6+III and ran a cel366@550 for a year, using pc133 generic RAM and NEVER had a problem whatsoever......had regular heatsink/fan but also added a r-shack gamma 28 fan to blow across the heatsink and never got higher than 100~F......either memory/heat got to be the problem i would guess, but you never really know w/some chips........if it was memory, though, prolly wouldn't be able to boot at all - had that problem b/4 also... guess it could be heat but my g-orb did juz fine when i switched to it (only got to 83~F) and i run it on my pIII 550e @ 735mhz and still only @ 83~F..............
