View Full Version : Request help on OCing PII 233
I have succeeded in a modest gain by changing the FSB pins on my ASUS P2B (440BX) MB to 83.3 MHz.
At FSB of 100MHz the system boots up and indicates speed of 350Mhz (100x3.5), but freezes at the "starting windows" text message. Running Windows 95.
Any suggestions on what to try next would be greatly appreciated.
First, use the Sandra software to find out the MHz range of your CPU core. It will pretty much indicate how much you can overclock it. What type of memory are you using? You should be using at least PC100 type memory. If you are using the old type (slow) memory that is the culprit for the lockup. Get some good memory and try again. I bought a SOYO Motherboard and PC100 memory to overclock my PII 333MHz. With good memory 100MHz FSB is easy. Changing the FSB to 103MHz I was able to overclock the CPU to an amazing 464MHz. And my system is rock stable, too!

Why not change the multiplier to 3.0? this will get you 300 mhz @ 100fsb, which might be a closer bid than 350...with that core, it might be all it's got, but if you are running at default voltage, then try upping it just a little, and see if it loads windows, but like I said, 300 mhz is a more likely goal.
Good luck
