need help...

have a celeron 600, currently its running at 902, with a generic heatsin/fan, and standard voltage of 1.65 volts, (cpu core), I replaced the heatsink with a water cooler, temperatures dropped, but system locks up in quake III @ 945 mhz, I want to try to increase the voltage, but my mobo, has an automatic voltage detection thingy, can't adjust the volts, only the mhz's,I heard about covering some pins in a slot 1 connector to increase the voltage of slot 1 cpus, wondering if I could do the same for my FC-PGA to Slot 1 converter, (it doesnt have voltage settings :(
hope someone can help me here.

my system
FC-PGA Celeron II 600
FC-PGA to Slot 1 Converter (no voltage settings though)
Zida Motherboard (it overclocks things just fine, except for voltages.)
128 Mb PC-100 RAm
Sound Blaster Live
GeForce 2 Mx 32Mb
40 gigs hdd space

Buy a newer slotket...the newer ones have volt, and cpu settings.
But you will be happier with a new mobo..like Abit, Iwill,MSI,ASUS.
Most of the above will have all the adjustments you want...and some you might not even know about, but the slotket is a lot cheaper than a new mobo.

Sorry about the double post...I clicked post, and it did nothing for about 3 or 4 min, so I clicked stop and clicked post again....I'll be more patient in the future.

thanks for the reply, was planning on buying a new sloket, but it was just so wasted for me to see my old (about 2 month old) one to go, anyway found a way to change the volts, shorted some pins on the processor itself. i'm quite satisfied with 1.0 ghz of power, hehe... thanks anyway! :)

Ack! I would still recommend getting a newer slocket My recommendation is the ABIT Slocket!!! Check it out and for 12$ as opposed to having to short pins Hehehe Take a peek at it, you can find it at HTTP://www.tccomputers.com/ Happy hunting!
