I just received a new P3 700E slot 1 from online order, Accubyte for 148 Bucks(before shipping cost). I was hoping for getting a cC0 stepping type and guess what!... heh.. the S-Spec code matched with the cC0 spec and confirmed on a SisSoft Sandra2k says cC0. hehe.. for 148 bucks I am damn lucky to get this kind. Just installed the new CPU and started with 910mhz(130fsb) because all I had was an aluminum HS with 1 fan I bought from a local store. The CPU temp @ idle is 32degree celsius and just after full load, 47- 48 degree celsius. Is that not too bad? It wont kill my CPU at this temperature as long as I dont OC further?
47-48c won't hurt the processor, but it may hurt stability a little. A better heatsink is called for!

Thanks Tim for the reply : )
but I have a problem here... it's been going on for long long time actually.. The Registry corrupt and Win98se reloads a previous registry upon cold starting my PC(but not everytime). This problem happened even with my previous P3 800EB overclocked anywhere from 133fsb to 147fsb. I changed Vcore and I/O voltage and saw some improvement but couldn't get rid of that problem. Now, with this new P3 700E overclocked at 130mhz and 133mhz fsb caused me same registry problem. The default volatages of Vcore and I/O on 700E is 3.70 V. and 3.50V.
When I first started my computer with this new processor at 910mhz(130fsb), I left the default voltages alone and booted fine but next time when I started the PC, the registry was...... completely Wiped 99%, as if only the empty shell of Win98se operating system was left on my desktop. So, I set the Vcore at 3.75 and I/O at 3.70(two notches up from default) @ 933mhz(133fsb) and booted fine.. it sometimes corrupts registry and sometimes not.. and it dosn't get wiped all the way like only having empty shell of OS left on my desktop so I see some improvement. But I still experience this minor registry corrupt sometimes!! Tim,.. or anybody else, can ya help me?... Did I do ok on setting my voltage at this speed?.. By the way the I have three Case Fans, an air exhaust cooler, and with the CPU case naked.
My spec:
Abit BE6-2 rev1.2 w/ cut &modified HS & Artic silver for AGP chipset
P3 700E cC0@ 910 or 933
Mushkin PC150 128mb cas322
Seagate Baracudda 10Gig/7.2k rpm/512kb/8.0ms
CL Annihilator2 GTS 32mb
Toshiba DVD Rom
SB Live
Help me pleasssssse...
Seems like the most common culprit for this problem is the HDD itself. I/O voltage helps sometimes, and it is possible to go too high on V I/O you might want to try 3.4-3.5v. ram can also be a problem in this case, but it is rare. Have you ever done a fresh install on an empty drive since it started?

Tim, Thanks for yur input!
yes.. when i had an empty shell of win98se due to registry corrupt, I formatted HD again and fresh install win98se : ) but same problem as usual.. Could it be my Hard drive like you said? I know it's not the best HD, hehe. Do other HD can work better with overclocked machines? Maybe I need to change my HD for better stability..
I don't recall your drive being one of the more troublesome models. Maxtor drives (at least the inexpensive ones) commonly give this type of problem. I am running all Western Digital drives and PCI speeds around 36MHz and haven't had any problems. Sometimes the only way to know is to try a different one. Perhaps someone with experience with that model of drive will post an answer.
